2019 MALE ATHLETE OF THE YEAR: Brentwood Academy, Thomas Gore

After a sports year that saw him win a state football title, a wrestling state championship and a track and field gold medal, Brentwood Academy’s Thomas Gore is our Athlete of the Year for the school.

Gore was an integral part of the Brentwood Academy’s ferocious defense that helped power the Eagles to a fourth-straight state title last December.

His defensive line prowess landed him at Georgia State to play collegiate ball and put him on our WillCo Football all-county team.

On the wrestling mat in February, he topped Ryan Jackson of Friendship Christian to win in the D-II state competition at 285 lbs.

“It feels good to be champion,” Gore told the Home Page after his win. “My coach is a two-time state champion and trained me. When you come to the program, you work hard to get to that level.”

His gold medal for track and field last month in the shot put competition for D-II AA.

A former Athlete of the Week for Brentwood Home Page, he plans to major in business finance at Georgia St. in the fall outside of pursuing athletics.
