Full Service Insurance and Waves, Inc. hosted the 10th Annual An Artist’s Window on Friday, June 17 at Rolling Hills Community Church in Franklin.

The event, with over 80 visual and performing artists, serves as an annual cultivation event, aimed to bring members of the community together with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to showcase their artistic abilities.

“This annual event is an important opportunity for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to interact with community members and to showcase the skills and talents they have,” said Shannon Nehus, executive director of Waves. “To see so many community members coming out to support these artists was very encouraging.

“I know that the artists look forward to this event every year, and so do we here at Waves. To see the joy on the artists’ faces and the pride they had in participating in this event will stick with those who attended for years to come.”

The evening’s event began with the visual art exposition and silent auction of the artwork. During this time, attendees and participants enjoyed food, took pictures in the photo booth, and viewed and bid on art. The visual artists were excited to show off their artwork to the community and sell their pieces, with the proceeds from any sale going directly back to the artist.

The performing arts component, in its second year as part of An Artist’s Window, grew with even more performers participating this year. The event had a variety of acts, including singing, dancing, and a music video.

Local artists from the community volunteered their time as judges, awarding first, second and third place awards in both the visual and performing arts sections. This year’s winners were as follows:

Visual Arts

  • 1st Place: Timothy Zirker

  • 2nd Place: Jessica Bray

  • 3rd Place: Kyle Jones

Performing Arts

  • 1st Place: Waves’ All Can Dance Class

  • 2nd Place: Dianne Johnson

  • 3rd Place: Ruth Adams

Regardless of whether they placed or not, all of the participants received certificates of recognition for their hard work, and they were excited to show everyone in attendance proof of their accomplishments.
