Kinsley Rawson, daughter of Shelby and Davey Rawson, is a freshman at Brentwood Academy and a member of the Varsity Girls Track Team.
As a freshman, Rawson said that making the varsity team has been the biggest highlight of her season. She said she was never expecting it and is so happy she was able to get a spot.
Rawson started running when she was in second grade.
“My parents found a local track club and thought I should try it out,” Rawson said. “I’ve always enjoyed running, so I was immediately excited about the idea. Doing that made me start to realize that running is something I love and enjoy, and I have been running ever since!”
When asked what inspires her to train and compete she said, “I am always thinking about getting better and improving which inspires me to push myself and run hard as I train and compete.”
While she doesn’t have one specific role model, she said she looks up to all of the older girls on the team.
“They are always encouraging everyone, working hard, and positive,” she said.
Outside of running, she enjoys drawing, swimming, reading, being outside, and spending time with friends.
After high school, she said she would like to do something in the medical field—possibly a nurse or pediatrician. She hopes to keep running as long as she can.
