Haley Murphy, daughter of Stephanie and Dan Murphy, is a junior at Brentwood Academy and a member of the Varsity Volleyball Team.
She plays the position of outside hitter and has played that position for her entire career. She said the biggest highlight this season was the first win of the season against St. Cecilia.
Murphy said her initial interest in the sport came from her mother, who played volleyball in college. She introduced Haley to the sport when she was in fourth grade and was her first-ever coach. Murphy said she really loved and valued having her as her coach during the first two years.
When asked what inspires her to train and compete she said it’s all due to her teammates. She added that they have become some of her closest friends and have unbreakable bonds.
Her biggest role model is her father, Dan.
“He shows me what it looks like to have discipline and work hard,” she said.
Outside of volleyball, she enjoys cooking and baking—specifically cookies.
After graduating from BA next year, she said she is considering attending The University of Georgia or Auburn University.
