Kailey Proffitt, daughter of Laurie and David Frye and the late Jason Proffitt, is a senior at Brentwood Academy and this week’s Kerr & Co. Realty Athlete of the Week.
She is a member of the Varsity Softball Team and plays the position of first base. Last season in a game against Nolensville when moral was low, Proffitt hit a ball to the fence, scoring two runs and getting triple.
Proffitt started playing softball when she was only four years old with the encouragement of her father. “… my Dad played baseball in college,” she said. “Needless to say, I fell in love with the game of softball!”
When asked what inspires her to continue training and competing she said, “As a senior, I know this is probably the last time I will play competitively. I want to leave the game knowing I worked as hard as I could to be the best player I could.”
Proffitt said her biggest role model is her mother, Laurie. “I aspire to be as independent and hardworking as she is,” she said.
She describes herself as determined, independent and responsible. In her free time, she enjoys reading, spending time with friends, and doing community service through SAP, BA’s service sorority.
In the fall, she plans to study nursing at Clemson University. After graduating, she hopes to go to anesthesia school to become a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist.
