Drake Austin, son of Brooke and Steve Austin, is this week’s Kerr & Co. Realty Athlete of the Week.
He is a junior at Brentwood High School and the captain of the Boys Bowling Team. In the regional tournament, he bowled his highest game yet, a 287.
Austin said that his mother is the one who initially got him to start bowling. She encouraged him to join a league when he was in elementary school and he said he started bowling two-handed shortly after.
When asked what inspires him to train and compete he said, “Coach Pop inspires me with his words of wisdom. He always tells me when I need to make adjustments and to ‘steamroll the competition.’”
One of his biggest role models is his teammate, Coleman Bryant. He said that Bryant bowled a perfect game in practice and refuses to let him forget it. He added, “He always helps me when I am down and hopefully he’ll be a great assistant captain next year!”
Outside of bowling, Austin’s hobbies are plenty. He enjoys looking at Instagram memes and playing Fortnite with his friends.
After graduating from BHS next year, he plans to go to The University of Alabama to attend their business school.
