Molly Austin, daughter of Shane and Becky Austin, is this week’s Kerr & Co. Realty Athlete of the Week.
She is a sophomore at Brentwood High School and the captain of the Girls Bowling Team. This year, the girls team made it to regionals semi-finals, an accomplishment Austin is very proud of. Personally, she takes pride in her high score of 201.
Austin said she owes her start in bowling to her brother, Ben. He was on the team and encouraged her to join her freshman year.
When asked what inspires her to continue training and competing she said, “I want to improve as a bowler and keep up with my team. There are also many scholarship opportunities for female bowlers that motivate me to improve.”
One of her biggest role models is her mother, Becky. “Although she is not a very good bowler, she motivates me to get better and cheers me on at matches,” she said.
Austin describes herself as friendly, reliable, creative, motivated, and competitive.
Outside of bowling, she said she enjoys spending time with her church youth group.
After graduating in a couple of years, she hopes to go to college to pursue a career as an Optometrist. She said her dream college is Vanderbilt University.
