Emily Trushel, daughter of Tim and Ginger Trushel, is this week’s Kerr & Co. Realty Athlete of the Week.
She is a junior at Brentwood High School and a member of the Varsity Girls Basketball Team. She plays the position of shooting guard. Most recently, she scored 24 points in a game against Dickson County and 23 points against Page High School.
Trushel blames her height for her original start in the sport. “My dad wanted me and my sister to play because we were tall,” she said. Lucky, she ended up loving it.
When asked what inspires her to continue training and competing she said, “My teammates and coaches. Seeing what they’ve accomplished inspires me to be my best.”
One of her biggest role models is her coach, Coach Myles Thrash. “I look up to his game and personality,” she said. “He pushes me to be my best and I know he loves me and wants the best for me.”
Trushel describes herself as hard working, competitive and dedicated.
After graduating from BHS next year, she said she would like to further her basketball career in college. She is currently undecided as to where she will attend.
