Jake Severino, son of Roger and Mary Anne Severino, is a senior at Brentwood High School and this week’s Kerr & Co. Realty Athlete of the Week.
He is a member of the Varsity Soccer Team and plays the positions of goalkeeper and striker. This season, he has kept five shut outs as goalkeeper. As a striker, he has scored twice and had one assist.
Severino started playing soccer when he was only four years old. For the last 10 years, he has been playing club soccer.
When asked what inspires him to continue training and competing he said, “My teammates are my main inspiration. We are such a well knit group of guys and we motivate each other every game to aim higher.”
One of Severino’s biggest role models is Justin “Juice” Lambright, who was the goalkeeper for BHS two years ago. He said, “He really took me under his wing and showed me how to be a good captain while still having fun.”
BHS Soccer Coach Mike Purcell sad of Severino, “Jake always comes up big when the pressure is on despite his seemingly mellow persona.”
Outside of soccer, he enjoys fort building, dancing, reading and listening to music.
In the fall, he plans to attend Vanderbilt University for entrepreneurship. One day, he would like to own his own business.
