Cassie Baldwin, daughter of Robert and Sandra Baldwin, is a senior at Brentwood High School and this week’s Kerr & Co. Realty Athlete of the Week.
She is a member of the Varsity Track & Field Team. This season, she ran a 2:26 in the 4×800 and came in third in the section.
Baldwin said she recalls being a lover of running since elementary school, so the transition into competition Track & Field was natural.
When asked what inspires her to continue training and competing, Baldwin gave all the credit to God. She said, “God gave me a gift and is allowing me to steward it and continue to work hard and enjoy the empowering feeling of running.”
One of her biggest role models is her mother, Sandra. Baldwin said her mother is also a runner with a lot of experience in the sport. She said she admires her for her talent and her dedication to making “everything she does… even winning” give glory to God.
Head Track & Field Coach Steve Brock said of Baldwin, “Cassie Baldwin has shown what it means to put her best foot forward this whole track season. Cassie improves her time with every race. In sub-sectional 4X800 relay she led her team with a great start in the first leg. Even though it is her last track season, she has made every race count! She is looked at as a senior leader and younger girls listen to her encouragement. Cassie represents what it means to be a Brentwood Student Athlete! We will miss her next year, but wish her the best of luck in college!”
She describes herself as loyal, joyful and hard working. When she’s not on the track, she can be found leading FCA as the President of the organization or participating in Student Council as a senior class representative.
In the fall, Baldwin plans to attend The University of Alabama.
