Tanner Parker, son of Kurtis and Carla Parker, is a junior at Brentwood High School and a member of the Varsity Cross Country Team.
This season, his biggest accomplishment was running a time of 18:53 in a 5k.
Parker couldn’t help but joke when asked how he got his start in cross country.
“When I was younger I learned to crawl,” he said. “Then I learned to walk. Then I wondered what would happen if I walked faster, then I started to run.”
Parker said that his coach, Rob Pautienus, is his main inspiration and motivation when he’s training and competing.
“He’s a great guy and always makes sure we know the general specifics of each run we do,” he said.
Pautienus said of Parker, “Tanner was one of the team’s captains this season and led by his example. He consistently worked hard and had a positive attitude regardless of the weather or workout.”
After graduating from BHS next year, he plans to attend Brigham Young University.
