Eden Mittelsdorf, daughter of Kate and Alan Mittelsdorf, is a sophomore at Brentwood High School and a member of the Varsity Cross Country Team.
This season, she came in second place at Regionals and 11th in the state.
Mittelsdorf said that before she was ever interested in running, she was told by a coach that she was “going to be a runner.” In sixth grade, she decided to test it out and said she instantly fell in love with it.
When asked what inspires her to train and compete she said, “I enjoy the competitive aspect of running as well as the relationships I have made during the season.”
One of her biggest role models is her father, Alan.
“He always encourages me to do my best,” Mittelsdorf said. “He is enthusiastic and energetic and not only pumps me up, but the entire team with his cowbell.”
Head Varsity Cross Country Coach Rob Pautienus said of Mittelsdorf, “Eden is a strong competitor. Despite an injury early in the season, she stayed focused, worked hard, and had a positive perspective, which paid off later in the season and at the State meet.”
When she’s not on the track or the trail, she enjoys writing and drawing, as well as studying scripture.
After graduating from BHS, she plans to attend either Pepperdine University or the University of Colorado Boulder. She would like to pursue a career in Chemical Engineering.
