Shane Craig, son of Marna and Teddy Craig, is a junior at Ravenwood High School and this week’s Kerr & Co. Realty Athlete of the Week.
He is a member of the Varsity Football Team and plays the position of safety. He is also on the Varsity Baseball Team and plays the positions of shortstop and pitcher.
This football season, he said the biggest highlight was completing five interceptions and getting the All-District Award.
He started playing football when he was only five years old and has loved the game ever since.
When asked what inspires him to continue training and competing he said his love for the game keeps him motivated.
One of his biggest role models is RHS Baseball Coach James Borne. “He pushes me every day to make me become a better player,” he said.
Borne said of Craig, “Shane pitched a masterful game on opening day against a good hitting team. He set the tone for the game by keeping the other team scoreless.”
When he’s not on the baseball or football field, he enjoys playing 2K on Xbox and spending time with friends.
After graduating from RHS next year, Craig said he hopes to go to college to pursue playing either football or baseball.
