Rylee Strassner, daughter of Tracey and Kurt Strassner, is a junior at Ravenwood High School and a member of the varsity girls volleyball team.
She plays the position of outside hitter. This season, she has had 49 swing attempts and 12 kills in a game against Page High School.
Both of Strassner’s parents played volleyball, so she said it was natural for her to follow in their footsteps.
When asked what inspires her to train and compete she said, “I am inspired to always improve and reach my full potential as a player.”
One of her biggest role models and influences is her mother, Tracey.
“She works hard no matter what she is doing… in all aspects of her life,” she said.
RHS Head Volleyball Coach Abbey West said of Strassner, “Rylee has taken on a big load for our team this season and is our go-to attacker with 79 total attempts in our last two victories over Centennial and Page, Rylee locked in 20 kills, 17 digs, four aces and five blocks over the course of those two matches. Don’t let Rylee’s quiet demeanor fool you. She is a fierce competitor and plays with an internal passion for her teammates.”
Outside of volleyball, she enjoys reading and watching movies.
After graduating from RHS next year, Strassner hopes to go to college to pursue a career in science or history.
