BASKETBALL: Recapping a few late-week games

As November closes and December says hello, let’s take a look at select scores for games that concluded late last week. 

GCA splits battles to Nashville Christian 

Thanks to a late three for Anna Smith with :23 to go, the Grace Christian Academy Lady Lions got a close win against NCS Thursday, 46-42.

Audrey Sanders led the team overall in scoring with 22 and had 12 rebounds, while Anna Kate Bechman hit two late free throws to ensure the victory.

As for the boys, they couldn’t quite get past NCS in the matchup.

Mason McKnatt had 36 on the night and made five threes and Cole Scott pitched in with 16, but that wasn’t quite enough to the the Lions past NCS, 71-66.

The Lions overcame a 13-point deficit to tie the game up late in the fourth, but the Eagles won it on a late three from the charity stripe.

BGA takes loss to Ezell-Harding 

Battle Ground Academy’s boys team took it right to the end with Ezell-Harding Thursday, but the Wildcats couldn’t quite take the victory, 52-49.

Charlie Jewell (13), Mitchell Petzelt (12) and Calvin Quehl (11) led the team in scoring.

FRA can’t quite edge PCA 

The Franklin Road Academy Lady Panthers suffered a 53-43 loss to Providence Christian Thursday.

Zharia Hutchinson had 11 for the team, while Macie Medes had 10.
