BGA football player Antonio Stevens signals commitment to Purdue

Battle Ground Academy has seen one of its college prospect DBs commit to a program.

Safety and rising senior Antonio Stevens announced his plans Wednesday to attend Purdue in fall 2020 to play football.

“First and foremost, I want to thank God for all of my blessings,” Stevens wrote in a message on Twitter. “I’ve had the opportunity to build relationships with great coaches and programs throughout this process and I am thankful for their interest in me.

“I would next like to thank my mom for sacrificing everything to put me in this position and always being there for me. I promise I won’t let you down.”

He went on to thank his BGA teammates, coaches, administration and community and his family and friends.

“This is just the beginning,” he wrote. “I am proud to say I am 103% committed to Purdue University!”

Per 24/7 Sports, Stevens also had offers from Memphis, Cincinnati, Louisville, Missouri, South Carolina and Virginia.

He joins fellow WillCo product and wide receiver T.J. Sheffield, who is headed off to join the Boilermakers after graduating from Independence High School in May.

His Wildcats teammate and fellow secondary teammate Garnett Hollis Jr. has narrowed down his list to Purdue, Northwestern and Vanderbilt, with a decision coming Saturday.

Stevens will return to the gridiron for BGA this fall under new coach Jonas Rodriguez.
