A Battle Ground Academy specialized presentation on Wednesday, Feb. 11 will help parents try to handle the developmental stages and challenges that come with rearing a daughter.

The program, entitled “Raising Girls,” will be held from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at BGA’s Middle School and will be led by professional counselor Sissy Goff, M.Ed. It is free and open to the public.

“This topic dovetails nicely with our mission of providing a strong foundation for children,” Will Kesler, BGA Head of School, said in a news release. “Sissy Goff is a recognized expert in this field and we invite the community to join us for what will be an enlightening evening.”

“Raising Girls” is appropriate for parents of girls ages five to 19. In the program, Goff will review developmental stages and share what to expect at each age level. This will include specific advice for mothers and fathers as to what their child needs from them.

Goff has worked as the director of child and adolescent counseling at Daystar Counseling Ministries in Nashville, since 1993.

She has a Master’s degree from Vanderbilt University and is the author of a Lifeway video parenting curriculum called Raising Boys and Girls, as well as six books including parenting titles, “Intentional Parenting,” “The Back Door to Your Teen’s Heart,” “Raising Girls,” and “Modern Parents, Vintage Values,” as well as “Mirrors and Maps” for 11-14 year-old girls and “Growing Up Without Getting Lost” for 15-19 year-old girls. Goff provides parenting tips on her blog.

The program will take place in the Middle School Commons Room on BGA’s Glen Echo Campus at 336 Ernest Rice Lane in Franklin. Space is limited. Click here to register.
