The Brentwood Middle School varsity girls cross country team captured the Tennessee State Middle School Cross Country Championship in Knoxville on Oct. 22.

The Lady Vikings finished with 68 points to win. Houston was second with 100 and Knoxville Ambassador was third with 128.

BMS seventh-grader Sofia Rutherford (12:42.18) placed sixth and eighth-grader Anna Banovac (12:56.53) finished 10th.

Teammates Eden Mittelsdorf (13:13.12) finished 17th, Kaitlyn Vanderkolk (13:33.76) placed 21st, Carissa Shuxteau (14:02.30) came in 36th, Sidney Bennett (14:02.54) was 37th and Bronwyn Harris (14:25.69) was 55th.

The Lady Vikings were undefeated this season.
