This week’s Booster Club of the week is Summit High School, known as the Gridiron Club.
We spoke to President, Mike Zakrzewski Jr., to learn more about Friday night rituals and more.
Each booster club has their own Friday night ritual, can you tell us more about yours?
Ours would be what we like to call Spartanville! It’s our tailgating area. It’s by far the best in Williamson county. Its a large grass area with a lot of tents, tables and chairs. We have a sign-up sheet for food, drinks, desserts. We never run short on food. Always enough to continue tailgating after the game also. After the game we also cook food for the boys.
How many members do you have in your booster club and how many members does it take to make each Friday night successful?
We have 155 members. It takes everyone to be successful from the press box crew, the chain crew, the spirit wear crew and the fans cheering the boys on to victory!
For this school year, what types of fundraisers do you have planned?
We do a change the game competition with Spring Hill every year. We have two buckets for change, one for each team. At halftime we weigh the buckets to see who wins. Summit has won all three years we’ve done it. We select a charity before hand to donate the money to. This year we raised over $500 for the charity. We have our lift-a-thon, card drive, Gridiron memberships and the long line of banners from our sponsors. Our sponsors have been amazing to work with and look forward to continuing that.
What is your first goal you look to accomplish this year?
We want to ensure our members and community understand what our organization is all about. We want people to see how we impact the football teams experience in a very positive manner. We are here to support the program any way we can.
Give us three words to describe your Booster Club?
