Another Brentwood Academy Eagle will get a chance to make his name in the professional sporting world.
2017 alum Bryce Jarvis, part of BA’s state team two years ago, now a sophomore pitcher and infielder with the Duke Blue Devils, saw his name called in the 2019 MLB Draft this week.
He was selected in the 37th round (pick 1125) of the draft by the New York Yankees.
Jarvis is in front of the Blue Devils bullpen in strikeouts with 24 this season and is trying to help Duke advance to the College World Series right now.
Jarvis has two options from here: he could opt to remain at Duke for a junior season and re-enter the draft process next season or he could sign a deal with the Yankees and begin his professional career in the minors.
Jarvis and Duke play Vandy this weekend in the Super Regional round in Nashville.
Congratulations to @BryceJarvis28 ‘17 drafted by the @Yankees! Bryce led @BAEagleBaseball to a State Championship & will pitch for @DukeBASE as they take on @VandyBoys here in Nashville this wknd in the NCAA Baseball Super Regional. Go Bryce! ⚾️👊🏽 pic.twitter.com/GoPFJOtmYW
