What a way to ring in the New Year.
The Brentwood Academy Lady Eagles’ resounding 55-28 victory over the visiting Pope John Paul II Lady Knights gave the home team the continued excellence in district play it was hoping for Friday.
The Lady Eagles finished 2018 strong with a sound showing in the Sandra Meadows Classic Tournament in Texas last weekend, and got back on the regular season schedule with a victory.
“I try to go to those tournaments to be exposed, to find out what we need to work on, so we’ve been working on those things,” head coach Rhonda Brown said of BA. “The girls did a pretty good job of doing some of the things we’ve been asking them to do the last couple days.
“We needed a good start. We haven’t started very well the last couple of games, and I thought they came out raring to go.”
BA’s Maggie Brown led all scorers with 20 points, while Avery Kovick pitched in with eight points.
The Lady Eagles (10-3, 3-0) will next head out to Girls Preparatory School Tuesday.
