Brentwood girls tennis completes four-peat run of state titles

The Brentwood girls tennis team has four reasons to be enjoying this year’s Spring Fling.

All four involve past and present state titles.

The team notched its fourth state honor in a row Wednesday afternoon at Adams Tennis Complex in Murfreesboro in a 4-0 victory against Collierville in the Division-I Large Class bracket.

Lady Bruins Alex Torre (6-1, 6-7, 6-3), Georgia Fischer (6-0, 6-2), Evelyn Calhoun (6-4, 6-0) and Kaitlin Ly (6-2, 6-0) all got individual wins to get the championship.

Hamsa Javagal was ahead in a third set against her opponent when it was ended early, 3-0. She won the second set in that match 6-4 after losing the first to Margeaux Britt 6-7.

The Brentwood boys tennis team also won a state title Wednesday.

The school swept the D-I Large Class competitions.
