The Brentwood High School volleyball team continued its history of excellence Tuesday night with a home 3-1 Region 6-AAA win over rival Ravenwood.
The Lady Bruins lost the first set to the Raptors 25-23 but stormed back and won the last three sets 25-14, 25-19 and 25-15.
Shaye Eggleston led the way for Brentwood with 15 kills and 12 digs, while Hollye Tate added in 11 kills and Mary Oldham 10 kills. Tori Carpenter had 45 assists and 12 digs.
Andrea Aceveda led the team with 29 digs, and Sydney Rexford and Morgan Carter had 12 and 11 digs, respectively.
The region victory gets Brentwood ready for Thursday’s home substate round.
Head coach Barbara Campbell applauded her team’s effort in continuing the tradition of the program.
“It was one of our season goals [to win regions],” Campbell said. “I’m very happy. It allows us to host our substate match, and [Tuesday’s win is] against one of our biggest rivals; Ravenwood.
“It was just a great team effort.”
Campbell said she feels that they’ll no doubt see the Lady Raptors once more if they’re able to make it to next week’s state tournament out at MTSU.
“Hopefully, we’re on a roll [by then],” Campbell said. “I hope we use this win [to fuel us].”
The Lady Bruins also defeated Hillsboro in the regional round 3-0.
Eggleston had 17 kills in that victory, Carpenter had 36 assists and 10 digs and Aceveda had 15 digs.
