Chef at The Heritage at Brentwood competes for $10K

Jonathan King, executive chef at The Heritage at Brentwood, is one of five finalists competing in the Chopped-style competition for a $10,000 top prize as well as the title of Chef of the Year, according to a release from The Heritage.

King earned his associate’s degree in culinary arts at Volunteer State Community College and completed a three-year apprenticeship at Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center through the American Culinary Federation (ACF). He has been with The Heritage since fall of 2012 and oversees its two restaurants, the Fireside Grille and Southern Oak.

King will compete on Aug. 1 against Michael Aviles, University Village, Thousand Oaks, Calif.; Matthew Bishop, Bayshore Memory Care, Naples, Fla; Hagop Hagopian, The Clare, Chicago, Ill., and Eric Sayers, The Cypress of Hilton Head, Hilton Head Island, S.C.
