Citizens for Brentwood Green Space recently announced the dates for its fourth annual A Walk in the Park event.
This year’s festivities will take place at Marcella Vivrette Smith Park on Wilson Pike on Sunday, Sept. 16.
The family-oriented A Walk in the Park event helps raise money for park enhancements at Smith Park, the largest park in the city limits of Brentwood.
“We are more excited than ever for this year’s event,” Gil Hutchinson, president of Citizens for Brentwood Green Space, said. “Since 2015 our event has attracted over 500 attendees and raised approximately $33,000 for the City of Brentwood’s parks.”
Including private donations, Citizens for Brentwood Green Space has donated over $212,000 in total to Smith Park.
This year’s A Walk in the Park title sponsor is once again H.G. Hill Realty Company.
“We are pleased to support A Walk in the Park again this year and commend the leadership and volunteers of Citizens for Brentwood Green Space for their dedication to the enhancement of the city’s expansive park system,” said Jimmy Granbery, chairman and CEO of H.G. Hill Realty Company. “The organization shares our goal to positively contribute to the quality of life of those that live and work in Brentwood.”
In addition to serving as the event’s title sponsor, H.G. Hill Realty Company’s efforts to encourage walkable communities and create green spaces continue with the announcement earlier this year for plans to add a direct connection from the expanded Hill Center Brentwood to Maryland Way Park as part of the development’s Phase 2.
This year’s A Walk in the Park is expected to feature an expanded kid’s zone, hay rides, live entertainment, vintage baseball, an array of food options from local vendors and refreshments.
The non-competitive walk is not a pledge walk or a race. Rather, it is intended simply to be a fun, recreational activity for families, friends, clubs or individuals.
