City will take unwanted items during spring clean up days

If you’ve got a garage full of junk, the City of Brentwood wants to help make your spring cleaning a breeze.

For the next three Saturdays, city Public Works crews will help you get rid of unwanted items.

“That’s an opportunity for folks to clean out the garage, the basement, whatever it might be … and our folks will take those off their hands,” City Manager Kirk Bednar said Monday.

The spring clean up dates are April 13, 20 and 27, and pick up locations vary each weekend. The first and third weekend pick-up locations will be at Granny White Park from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Pick up on April 20 will be held at Safety Center East from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Bednar said the crews will take bulky-type items such as furniture and lawn equipment. Other items that can be brought to the clean up days include appliances, power tools, luggage and file cabinets.

While this is an opportunity to cleanse your space of junk, not just anything can be dropped off at the community clean up days. A list of unacceptable items can be found online here.

If now isn’t the best time to tidy up your home, the city offers this service again in the fall. For more information, contact the City of Brentwood at (615) 371-0060.
