Did your surveillance camera pick up an image of the drive-by shooting suspect?

Brentwood Police are hoping that the increasing use and quality of surveillance systems could help police as they investigate a fatal drive-by shooting Monday night on Dozier Court in the Brenthaven subdivision.

The family at 1426 Dozier Court was startled at the sound of gunfire in the street outside at about 11 p.m. The victim was inside the home at the time he was struck by a round.

Nobody inside the house could describe the vehicle or the person that fired the shots.

Tommy Walsh, Brentwood Police assistant chief, on Tuesday afternoon asked anyone with outdoor surveillance cameras in the area to check their footage before and after the time of the shooting for any images of a car or its occupant(s).

“We canvassed the area and attempted to locate video, and would ask anyone who thinks they may have captured something to call us,” Walsh said.

Dozier Court intersects with Dozier place, which connects Parker Place and Brenthaven Drive. There are a number of routes connected to those streets that lead to major streets and to Interstate 65.

Police continued to withhold the name of the victim and other details pending more progress in the investigation.

“I won’t be able to confirm any details regarding the type of weapon used or the number of shots that were fired,” Walsh said.
