Fire destroys home in Governors Club; owners were out of town

The State Fire Marshal is investigating a structure fire early Sunday that heavily damaged a home in The Governors Club in Brentwood.

Brentwood Fire & Rescue Crews responded to a report of a structure fire Sunday August 11, 2018 on Medalist Court in the gated subdivision off Concord Road.

Crews received the call shortly before 1 a.m. The first engine company arrived just six minutes later and nearly thirty firefighters responded. The first officer on scene reported a well involved structure with heavy smoke and flames.

“Fire units set up a defensive attack and fought the fire well into the daylight hours on Sunday,”  Brentwood Fire Chief Brian Goss said. The homeowners were out of town at the time of the fire.  No injuries were reported to either occupants or firefighters.

Brentwood Fire personnel remained on scene Monday morning assisting investigators from the State Fire Marshal’s Office and putting out spot fires. The cause of the fire has not been determined yet.
