FOOTBALL ROUNDUP: BA stays undefeated, Nolensville, Summit get road wins


Brentwood Academy blasts West Toronto Prep

Brentwood Academy (5-0) welcomed West Toronto Prep Spartans, all the way from Ontario, Canada, to town Friday night and came away with a 48-7 victory. The Eagles got to an early 24-0 lead through the first quarter, and the Eagles coasted from there.

The Eagles racked up 419 yards of total offense, while holding the West Toronto to only 85 yards in the game.

Tomario Pleasant led the way for BA on the ground with 120 yards and a touchdown on just seven carries. Russell Holbrook, Shane Farrow and Jordan James also found the end zone Friday night.

Wade Williams led the Eagles’passing attack going 8-15 for 139 yards and a touchdown, including a 54-yard scoring strike to Aaron Lovins.

The Eagles defense held the West Toronto Prep Spartans without a first down in the first half, but the Eagles overall looked sloppy at times, a fumbled quarterback to running back exchange near the goal line cost the Eagles touchdown in the second quarter.

BA went into halftime with a 34-0 lead and scored quickly in the second half to institute a running clock. Eagles would eventually get the win, which was good for their 22nd-straight victory.

BA will face defending 5A state champion Knoxville Catholic next week.

Nolensville at Lawrence Co.

The Nolensville Knights (4-1) traveled to Lawrence County Friday night and came away with a 42-14 triumph over the Wildcats. The Knights led Lawrence County 21-7 halftime and only gave up a single score in the second half on their way to victory.

Wide receiver Tim Coutras caught four touchdown passes on the night. Senior running back Colton Dooley had another in the second. Kicker Luke Jenkins was 6-6 on extra points on the night.

Next week the Knights host Brentwood High School, will be off a victory in a hard-fought game against their rival Ravenwood.

Summit at Columbia

Summit (3-2) stormed back in the second half to snatch a 30-21 victory away from the Columbia Lions.

The Spartans scored 30 unanswered points in the second half en route to the victory.

The Spartans did most of the work on the ground Friday. The running game accounted for 369 of the team’s 386 total yards. George Odimegwu led the Spartans with 191 yards and two touchdowns on 23 attempts.

Keaten Wade came up with the go-ahead touchdown in the fourth quarter, and the Spartans would add a safety to salt away the victory.

Wade finished with 95 yards and carries for Summit.

The Spartans travel to Page High School in Week 6 for a tough battle with the Patriots.

Spring Hill at Tullahoma

Spring Hill High Raiders fell to Tullahoma High School 27-7 Friday night.

The Raiders will face crosstown rival Columbia next week In the Battle for the Mayor’s Cup when they host the Lions at 7 p.m.

Grace Christian Academy vs. Richland

The GCA Lions fell 52-14 to Richland High School at home Friday night.

The Lions will host McEwan High School next week.
