Franklin coach John Wild accepts vacant Summit girls basketball role

A prominent local preps basketball figure will be hopping across the county for his next role.

Franklin girls basketball coach John Wild will be heading to fellow 11-AAA member Summit High School to take over their girls program.

A 500+ win, state-title winning coach (two with girls basketball, one with boys), he was hired in 2017 to oversee the Lady Rebels and spent two seasons with the team.

“We are thrilled to have Coach Wild leading our girls basketball program,” Greg Glass, Summit’s Athletic Principal said via a release. “He has the ability to challenge our players so that they can maximize their potential and at the same time build relationships with them so that they can excel on and off the court.

“He has won multiple state championships and we feel that he is the right person to lead our girls basketball program.”

Wild replaces Kari Goodwin, who left Summit last week. She also coached at Franklin before heading to Summit.

He went 43-16 in his time with Franklin including postseason play, and notched a 23-9 district record.

The Summit Lady Spartans posted a 13-11 record (9-7 in the district) last season.
