As the city of Brentwood continues to expand its bike and walking path system, the 2017 Leadership Brentwood class chose Bike Walk Brentwood and their mission to continue improvement of Brentwood’s bike infrastructure by supplying 6 bike racks.
Leadership Brentwood is a group of leaders from the civic, educational, government, religious and business communities who use their leadership knowledge, skills and abilities for the long-term benefit of the Brentwood community. Each year, the class determines a project to work on that will benefit the city.
The Hill Center in Brentwood was the first to install one next to Jeni’s Ice Cream.
“We are so thankful to Leadership Brentwood for their donation to our City of these sleek and beautiful bike racks,” said Richard Hunter, chairman of Bike Walk Brentwood. “As our community continues towards a connected Brentwood, our citizens want to bike and walk safely to our library, schools and retail centers such as the Hill Center. Through this donation, we’re continuing our efforts to improve our biking and walking infrastructure.”
Bike Walk Brentwood is part of the larger non-profit of Bike Walk Tennessee whose mission is improving cycling and walking infrastructure, community education and advocacy within the federal, State and Local governments. Says Hunter, “We can only exist due to our partnerships with organizations such as Leadership Brentwood along with our inaugural Corporate Sponsors such as WSP, H.G. Hill Realty and the Lee Company.”
Their inaugural Family Bike Ride will take place from 2 – 5 p.m. this Sunday, May 20, at River Park, next to the Brentwood YMCA. This free event will be fun for young and old. Riders are invited to pre-register at www.bikewalkbrentwood/trailride.
