Lipscomb head coach, former BA standout Casey Alexander gets 100th win

Casey Alexander notched his 100th victory as Lipscomb’s basketball coach Sunday.

And it was not business as usual. The Bisons were without two starters but won 88-65 at Stetson, where Alexander coached for two seasons before he came to Lipscomb.

In five-plus seasons, he is 100-80 with the Bisons. He was 24-36 at Stetson.

“It just means that we’ve had a good six years at a place we love coaching,” Alexander said via the school’s athletics website. “The continuity in the staff has been very important to that and we’ve had a lot of good players and consistency.

“It’s a good place to be.”

Scott Sanderson has been the only other coach during the program’s NCAA era. He went 153-149 in 10 seasons.

With the latest victory, Lipscomb improved to 7-0 in the Atlantic Sun Conference (16-4 overall) and extended its conference win streak to 15 games, dating back to last season. Only Gonzaga in the West Coast Conference (20 games) has a longer active streak.

That run will be tested Tuesday when the Bisons play at Liberty (18-4, 7-0) in a matchup for sole possession of first place (6 p.m., ESPN+). Every other A-Sun team has at least two losses in conference play.

Note: Alexander played at Brentwood Academy in his high school years, where he helped the Eagles notch two state wins, per Lipscomb’s athletic site.
