Local Boy Scout collects over 220 pounds of trash from Little Harpeth

Earlier this week, local Boy Scout Alex Kurowski worked toward his Eagle Scout project by collecting over 220 pounds of trash from the Little Harpeth River.

Kurowski, who is a Boy Scout in Troop 1 that meets at Brentwood United Methodist Church, is a 17-year-old senior at Lipscomb Academy.

“I am a life Scout and hoping to get my Eagle Scout,” he said. “I completed my Eagle Scout project on Sunday, Nov. 13.”

Kurowski’s project consisted of cleaning the Little Harpeth River running through Crockett Park and River Park. Assisted by family, friends and fellow scouts, he was able to collect trash that totaled over 220 points.

“Some interesting items we found included traffic cones, cattle fences, clothing and baseballs,” he said. “After the project was completed I donated all the leftover food to the local firehouse to thank them for their efforts and serving us.”

Kurowski will graduate from Lipscomb Academy in the spring.
