Since 2011, over 2,200 young women have participated at the annual Love the Dress TN Event to select their perfect dress for prom or formal social events.
This year’s Love the Dress event is Feb. 23, featuring more than 1,200 dresses ranging from cocktail, to prom dresses to quinceanera dresses, donated by community members, area high schools, local department stores and bridal shops.
When a young lady donates a gown to Love the Dress, they are given a voucher to use at the event for a free dress. If they do not have a formal dress to donate, they can purchase one for $20 or a short formal for $10. Area schools also refer students in financial need. Participants also may bring a formal dress to swap at the event.
Love the Dress TN was created first to help all girls be able to afford a formal for school or community functions and then to help a local nonprofit with a monetary gift. The event also gives door prizes donated by local businesses, make up sessions by local beauticians, and how-to formal hairstyle presentations.
In addition to girls in 7th grade and older, college students also are invited to attend the event.
Proceeds from the event will be donated to Graceworks Ministries, which helps local families in need.
Event Information: From 8 a.m.-2 p.m. on Feb. 23, the Love the Dress TN! Event will be at The Gate Community Church, 3835 Carothers Pkwy, Franklin, TN 37067.
