The chairman of Nissan North America will in a few weeks decamp to Paris to take a new role in the automaker’s alliance with Renault and be succeeded at the company’s Cool Springs headquarters by the former head of Nissan’s Latin America region chairman.

Denis Le Vot, who will start in his new job April 1, only moved to Franklin early last year after working 27 years at Renault, rising through various sales and operations roles to lead the company’s Eurasia region. Word of his move back to Europe comes shortly after the leaders of Nissan, Renault and Mitsubishi gathered in Japan to say they were reshaping parts of their alliance in the wake of the ouster and arrest of former Chairman Carlos Ghosn.

Set to step into Le Vot’s shoes is José Luis Valls, who has been senior vice president of Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. and vice chairman of North America. Valls joined Nissan in 2011 in Mexico after working at General Motors. He also was president of Nissan’s Mexican operations before chairing its Latin America region.

In a statement, Nissan leaders said they will announce a replacement for Valls soon.
