Piano duel raises $$$ for WAVES program

Country stars Mike Reid and Phil Vassar dueled it out for charity on their pianos Thursday night at the in Franklin Theatre to benefit the local Waves Inc. program.

Country stars Mike Reid and Phil Vassar dueled it out for charity on their pianos Thursday night at the in Franklin Theatre to benefit the local Waves Inc. program.

More than 100 people paid donations for song requests, some as high as $100. Waves Inc. is a Williamson county nonprofit that helps people with disabilities.

Popular songs included hits from Elton John and even Vassar himself. Reid also performed Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud” and dedicated it to his wife.
The event featured Moonshine cocktails, dinner and marshmallow desserts that were live-torched.
A guitar signed by country singer Luke Bryan was auctioned for $1,200 in addition to two paintings by local artist Mike Maness. His pieces were inspired by Reid and Vassar’s songs “Stranger In My House” and “Another Day In Paradise.” The paintings were auctioned at $200 and $1,100 and were signed by both.
