Brentwood leaders have invited residents to speak during three public hearings at Tuesday night’s City Commission meeting.

Before the commission attends to the several business items on its agenda, public hearings will be held for the proposed FY 2020 Appropriations Ordinance (the city’s annual operating budget), the FY 2020 tax levy ordinance to establish the FY 2019-2020 tax rate and the proposed Capital Improvements Program (CIP) for FY 2020-2025.

Public hearings are intended to be opportunities for citizens to voice their support or opposition to a proposition. The city’s budget worksheet can be viewed here.

Before they can be adopted, the proposed budget, tax rate and CIP will go through a process of three formal public hearings, beginning Tuesday night.

Though City Commission meetings typically take place on Monday nights, city offices will be closed on Monday, May 27 in observance of Memorial Day. As such, the next City Commission meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, May 28 at 7 p.m. at City Hall, located at 5211 Maryland Way in Brentwood.
