On Wednesday morning from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., the city of Franklin will be constructing pavement in the southern area of central Franklin, creating temporary road closures.
Third Avenue South (State Road 96) going out of town will be closed from South Margin Street to the Harpeth River bridge. Detour signs for rerouting onto First Avenue South toward Franklin Road and Mack Hatcher Parkway will be posted for the return to Murfreesboro Road (State Road 96.)
This closure is for re-surfacing of Third Avenue South so that a metal plate covering a water line repair can be removed. Work should be completed by 3 p.m. on Wednesday, April 11.
Also on Wednesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., South Margin Street going east and west between Fifth Avenue South/Lewisburg Pike and Third Avenue South will be closed. Local traffic only will be allowed westbound from Third Avenue South to the O’More College driveway, where South Margin Street will be totally closed.
The city will have detour signs posted for diversion to Church Street. These closures will allow the construction of a raised island and new stop signs for safety improvements on the westbound approach of South Margin Street to Fifth Avenue South/Lewisburg Pike. This work should be completed by 3 p.m. on Thursday.
Motorists should plan to take alternate routes in Franklin during the roadwork at these two construction sites.
