ROUNDUP: Arbor Day celebration, plant swap and family bingo at Brentwood Library this week

With Spring well underway and Arbor Day on the horizon, the Brentwood Library has a full week of activities planned. There’s something for everyone  this week, whether it be a game of family bingo, kids’ chess or anime clubs or finding new plants for the garden. Here’s a glance between the stacks at this week’s library programs.

Featured Program of the Week:

Saturday, April 6: Arbor Day

11 a.m. — The City of Brentwood’s Arbor Day celebration will be held at the Library. Come speak to a tree expert, enjoy the festivities, and grab a free hotdog.

This is a free program, and no registration is required.

Monday

Core Flex and Resistance

10 a.m. — This specialty class allows individuals to train for improvements in everyday real-life activities. Using hand weights, bands, and medicine balls real life functional movement patterns such as twisting, bending, pushing, pulling, lunging and squatting are executed in a fun and creative way.

This program costs $5 per class, and registration is required.

Tuesday

Kids’ Make

4:30 p.m. — Kids’ Make is a chance for kids to explore new tools, fine motor skills, creative problem solving, and self-directed play. With art supplies, recyclables, and imagination – the possibilities are endless.

Library staff recommends this activity for ages 7-12.

This is a free program, and no registration is required.

Wednesday

Scholastic Chess Club

5 p.m. — An onsite chess coach from the Nashville Chess Center will guide kids in beginning, intermediate and advanced strategies. Everyone child is welcome no matter your skill chess level. Boards are provided.

Library staff recommends this activity for ages 7-12 .

This program costs $10 per class, and registration is required.

Revive Restorative Yoga

11 a.m. — This class uses reliable, trusted techniques (linking gentle movements and focused concentration on breath) into a flow of exercises to promote “internal cleansing” and well-being in all areas of your life.

This program costs $5 per class, and registration is required.

Thursday

Teen Anime Club

4 p.m. — Anime and snacks!  Fun monthly activities, too. No Registration necessary.

This is a free program, and no registration is required.

Friday

Plant Swap and Chat

1 p.m. — Bring any seedlings, bulbs, plants that you would like to donate to the swap. Please label the items with as much information as you know (Name, scientific name, color, etc.) We will have a ticketing system so those who donate will be able to choose what they would like to take home, and what is left over will be open to our patrons. You may drop off your items beginning at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 5. The swap will begin promptly at 1 p.m.

This is a free program, and no registration is required.

Saturday

Story Time

10:30 a.m. — Join us for songs, story and a simple craft.

This is a free program, and no registration is required.

Sunday

Family Bingo

2 p.m. — Join us for an all ages afternoon of Bingo. Get ready for fun and the anticipation of shouting “Bingo!” at the library. You might even win a prize.

This is a free program, and registration is required.
