ROUNDUP: Brentwood Library to host quarterly book sale, financial workshops this week

The Friends of the Brentwood Library will host its quarterly book sale at the John P. Holt Brentwood Library this weekend, but that’s not all. Whether you’re looking for financial advice or a way to entertain the kids after school, the library has something for everyone this week. Here’s a look between the stacks at the library’s upcoming events.

Featured Program of the Week:

Friday — Sunday: Friends of the Brentwood Library Used Book Sale

10 a.m. – The quarterly book sale is back. From Friday, April 12 to Sunday, April 14, the library will have amazing deals for the teacher, collector, or everyday bibliophile. Friday and Saturday hours are 10 a.m. — 5:30 p.m., with Friends Members getting early access at 9 a.m. Sunday hours are 1 p.m. — 5:30 p.m., and to sweeten the deal even more, Sunday is half price day.

Monday

Core Flex and Resistance

10 a.m. — This specialty class allows individuals to train for improvements in everyday real-life activities. Using hand weights, bands, and medicine balls real life functional movement patterns such as twisting, bending, pushing, pulling, lunging and squatting are executed in a fun and creative way.

Cost is $5 per class, and registration is required.

Tuesday

Kids’ Make

4:30 p.m. — Kids’ Make is a chance for kids to explore new tools, fine motor skills, creative problem solving, and self-directed play. With art supplies, recyclables, and imagination – the possibilities are endless!

Library staff recommends this activity for ages 7-12.

This is a free program, and no registration is required.

Wednesday

Financial Literacy 101

Noon — Learn about personal finance and how to keep things organized.

This is a free program, and no registration is required.

Municipal Tax-Free Investing

1 p.m. — It is what you keep after taxes that is also an important concept.

This is a free program, and no registration is required.

Thursday

Flow into Joy Yoga

10:45 a.m. — Join as for a mixed level gentle flow yoga class where all the elements of a yoga practice are explored – breath, positive affirmations, poses, meditation and relaxation.

Cost is $5 per class, and registration is required.

Friday

Lego Mania!

4:30 p.m. — Unleash your creativity! Join the library staff for a fun filled afternoon of building your own designs.

Bring your imagination and the Legos® will be provided.

Library staff recommend this activity for ages 5-12.

This is a free program, and registration is required.

Saturday

Story Time

10:30 a.m. — Join the library staff for songs, story and a simple craft.

This is a free program, and no registration is required.

Sunday

Teen Game Club

2 p.m. — Do you love board games? Are you a Dungeons and Dragons fanatic? Join the library staff for our new club, where we play different board games, card games, and RPGs on Sundays. Snacks and a variety of games will be provided from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Learning Lab.

Library staff recommends this activity for ages 12-18.
