ROUNDUP: Edible gardens, kombucha tasting, Easter egg hunt this weekend

Thursday

Edible Gardens – Veggies, Herbs, and Recipes

10 a.m. — Discover what veggies and herbs grow best here in Middle Tennessee. Learn what grows well together, as well as what doesn’t work. We’ll include some recipes for using your garden’s harvest.

This is a free program, and registration is required.

Monday

Core Flex and Resistance

10 a.m. — This specialty class allows individuals to train for improvements in everyday real-life activities. Using hand weights, bands, and medicine balls real life functional movement patterns such as twisting, bending, pushing, pulling, lunging and squatting are executed in a FUN and creative way.

Cost is $5 per class, and registration is required.

Tuesday

Kids’ Make

4:30 p.m. — Kids’ Make is a chance for kids to explore new tools, fine motor skills, creative problem solving, and self-directed play. With art supplies, recyclables, and imagination – the possibilities are endless!

Library staff reccommends this activity for ages 7-12.

This is a free program, and registration is required.

Wednesday

Advance Directives to age with confidence — Presented by Vanderbilt University School of Nursing Students

10:30 a.m. — Learn about your health care options, choices, decisions. Also implement your Advance Directive plan, voice your health care desires and decisions, and engage loved ones to complete their Advance Directives.

The presentation will be 20-30 minutes, with time for questions and answers thereafter. Participants may complete their own Advance Directive on-site with the help of a Vanderbilt Student.

This is a free program, and registration is required.

Thursday

Kombucha Tasting

1 p.m. — This month we’ll be tasting varieties of Kombucha! Maybe you will find a new favorite? This series of library tastings are very informal and a good place to come for snacks and conversation.

This is a free program, and registration is required.

Easter Egg Hunt

4 p.m. — Join us at the field between the library and Lipscomb Elementary School for the annual Easter Egg Hunt. Come early to enjoy these activities beginning at 4:00 p.m.: Pictures with the Easter Bunny (Bring your camera!), Face Painting, and Jelly Bean Guess. The field will be divided into the following age groups: Toddlers to age 3, Ages 4-6, ages 7-9, ages 10-12. The Egg Hunt starts promptly at 4:45 p.m.

This is a free program, and no registration is required.

Friday

Tai Chi

3 p.m. — Tai Chi uses smooth continuous low impact movements to help you unwind while improving your balance, posture, and strength. Tai Chi aides in emotional relaxation, cultures mental relaxation, and fosters energetic relaxation.

Cost is $5, and registration is required.

Saturday

Story Time

10:30 a.m. — Join us for songs, story and a simple craft.

This is a free program, and no registration is required.

Dance of Watercolor

2 p.m. — In this very detailed and informative class, we’ll cover tools and supplies (including what to avoid!) and once you’ve finished this class, you’ll be able to confidently walk into any art supply store and buy what you need to create your own art. You’ll produce a simple finished painting, and you’ll get a handout with buying suggestions.

Cost is $40 — all supplies and tools are included — and registration is required.
