SPORTS: CPA baseball to state, BGA softball ends, Fairview soccer region champs

Below are updates from spring sports around the county. 

Christ Presbyterian Academy baseball headed to state tournament 

The CPA Lions have notched a few extra innings to their season.

The team swept St. George’s on the road in the D-II A quarterfinals to punch its ticket for state tournament in Murfreesboro.

The Lions’ push for a title begins Tuesday at LaVergne High School at 6:30 p.m. against Christian Academy of Knoxville.

Battle Ground Academy softball ends year 

The BGA Lady Wildcats made their first-ever Elite Eight appearance in the D-II A playoffs, but fell to The King’s Academy 2-1 in a best-of-three series.

BGA took the first contest, topping TKA for the first time, but lost the last two in the run.

Fairview soccer wins region title 

The Fairview Yellow Jackets got a 2-1 road win against Sycamore Thursday night, giving them a region title.

The team will make a play for a state berth Saturday night at home against White House at 7:00 p.m.

Brentwood girls tennis statebound 

The Brentwood girls tennis team got a 4-0 victory against Hendersonville Thursday, sending them into the final four bracket for the state tournament.

They’ll contend next week for a state title.
