Ellie Smith, daughter of James T. and Dana Dedmon Smith, is a senior at Brentwood Academy and this week’s Student of the Week.
She is a member of the Varsity Softball Team, Student Leadership Team and the Big Brother/ Big Sister program. In her spare time, she volunteers at the Room In The Inn and Faith Family Medical Center.
With her aforementioned interests, it comes as no surprise that one of Smith’s biggest passions is service. Due to this passion, she also plans to pursue a career in nursing.
This season in softball, she hit her first home run; an accomplishment she is very proud of.
Her favorite teacher at BA is Mr. Battaglia, who teaches Calculus and Statistics. “He is one of the most devoted and passionate teachers I have ever met,” Smith said. “He will send texts of encouragement and is always willing to help or answer a question day or night. “
Her biggest role models are her parents. “They are extremely hard working and exemplify Christ in everything they do.”
After graduating from BA this spring, Smith will enroll in the University of Tennessee- Knoxville’s Nursing Program. She plans to one day become a nurse practitioner or nurse anesthetist.
