Franklin residents have one less place to get their taco fix.
According to Swanky’s Taco Shop co-owner Michelle Wilson, the Franklin restaurant is now permanently closed.
The store’s sign has been taken off the brick facade at 1175 Meridian Boulevard and much of the inside of the restaurant has been gutted. Booths, tables and chairs have all been removed, although televisions remain on the wall in the abandoned outdoor patio.
In January, the Williamson Source reported that the closure would be temporary and that the owners hoped to “reopen the Franklin taco shop by the spring” after its initial closing last November.
Wilson said that the company has since decided to close the Franklin location, although she said the company is “keeping (its) eyes open for potential new locations.”
Several customers complained of cleanliness issues last year via Google Reviews, and the shop received an 89 on its health inspection in January 2017 after the restaurant violated food contact surface requirements and employee hand-washing rules. However, Swanky’s received a perfect 100 on its latest inspection in August 2017.
Swanky’s still has two other locations – one in Memphis and one in Germantown.
The 3,503-square-foot suite that housed Swanky’s is available for lease through Boyle Investment Company for $35 per square foot per year.
