City Manager Kirk Bednar mentioned during Thursday’s budget work session that citizens have been inquiring about a project on Holly Tree Gap Road near the Menefee property.

Come to find out, Brentwood isn’t in charge of the construction citizens are asking about.

Milcrofton Utility District, who serves eastern Williamson County, is installing a new 30-inch water transmission main along Holly Tree Gap and is expected to complete construction within 30 days, according to Mike Jones with Milcrofton.

“Clean up could take a couple months,” Jones told BHP of the more than $2 million project.

During construction a path along the hillside generated a lot of questions about stability.

“There’s a 100 to 150 foot nail wall installed at a pocket of soil to hold it in place,” Jones added. “We’ve also hired geotechnical consultants and he goes out several times a week to inspect the site.”

The path of the new water main will expand from Holly Tree Gap to the Cool Springs area near the mall.
